The Role

A Shoal Group Sales Engineer uses their customer relationship skills to develop market penetration strategies with electrical wholesalers. The primary part of the role being the delivery of sales growth for Shoal Group within the Sales Engineers area. The Sales Engineer will focus on a portfolio of contacts within the Electrical Wholesale Market whilst engaging with Electricians, Contractors and End Users creating project pull through via the wholesale channel.

Main Duties

Although not exhaustive, the key duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Own the sales target for their area against a defined list of customer and products

  • Work with the sales account managers to evaluate and translate customer needs delivering value added services

  • Prioritise your diary to focus on the execution of the sales strategy against a defined list of focus accounts delivering the sales within your geographical area

  • Share knowledge and understanding of the customer needs and expectations with your buddy in the Sales Office following up on enquires to ensure conversion from quote to order

  • Proactively manage accounts ensuring that the key decision makers are targeted, contacted, visited and updated with the sole purpose of securing long term business in a logical and organised schedule

  • Conduct joint visits to Electrical Contractors with Wholesalers in your geographical area

  • With management support negotiate intelligent pricing and service agreements with customers

  • Follow the businesses pricing decisions and make tactical proposals along-side them to secure orders

  • Spend time focussing on engagement with non-Wholesaler targets

  • Asses your performance v budget daily and advise changes to buying patterns which will impact the end of month forecast

  • Report market intelligence into the business 

  • Report monthly to the Sales & Marketing Director

  • External/Home Office Based 80/20

  • 2 x roles available with the following geographical areas to be covered

    • Southwest England

    • Northern England

Candidate Profile

  • B2B sales experience (internally and/or externally based)

  • Experience selling to electrical wholesaler or electrical contractors 

  • Business Development/Proactive Sales Experience on the field 

  • Proven record of delivering best in class customer experience

  • Autonomous nature whist able to follow processes and procedures in line with business needs

  • Self-starter who has the energy and drive to succeed 

  • Desire to work independently whilst being part of a wider team 

  • Based within the geographical area locations (Southwest England & Northern England)
