Shoal Group are based in Butterfield Business Park, Luton with an additional site in Tetbury, Gloucestershire (Specialist Wiring Accessories ‘SWA’) and a manufacturing facility in Plymouth (Birch Valley Plastics). The Company is a leading distributor of high quality flexible and specialist cables, cable management, identification, termination, fastenings, fixings and tools for the electrical and construction industries representing own and market-leading brands (with wide-ranging approvals) that are supplied directly into UK OEMs, Panel Builders, Electrical and Rail Contractors and indirectly through Electrical and Industrial Wholesaler channels alongside growing revenues into Export markets.

The Role
As the most senior and accountable HR leader in the Shoal Business the HRBP will work closely with the Managing Director and the Leadership team to deliver a robust people strategy driving the performance of the business and ensuring best practice approach to all people activity and practice.
Key Accountabilities
Although not exhaustive, the key duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:

Work with managers and leaders to design and deliver the people strategy for the overall Shoal business and the individual teams.

Bring people expertise and develop solutions to help the business area to deliver its strategy.

Support the teams to deliver their day-to-day people needs ensuring they have the appropriate policies and procedures and to support on employee relations or policy issues.

Work with the teams to ensure that the people capability of all line managers is at an appropriate level.

Use evidence and data to identify people priorities for the business and address future workforce needs.

Provide guidance on all people practices such as restructures, talent and succession planning, reward and talent acquisition.

When necessary complete market analysis to benchmark compensation and benefits against competitors and the broader market. the market data and trends. Provide strategic recommendations to ensure the organisation remains competitive in attracting and retaining talent.

Lead annual compensation & review processes, including target setting & appraisals, PDP’s, annual pay reviews, market rate adjustments and bonus schemes, design and measurements.

Work with the broader Diploma teams, both within the sector and Diploma central team to ensure that any group wide initiatives are fit for purpose for the Shoal needs and implemented in a timely manner.

Ensure that the HR and Payroll systems are efficiently and efficiently run and that all Administration activities are completed in an well structured annual / monthly cycle.
Candidate Profile

Experience of leading HR across all disciplines and you will be accountable for offering expertise in all people areas.

Ability to influence and build relationships with people around the business.

Able to question and challenge others to get to the root of people and business issues.

Good change management and project management skills.

Strong business acumen and be commercially focused.

A sound knowledge of employment law is expected.

Coach and provide feedback to key stakeholders to help improve business outcomes.

Ideally CIPD qualified, but not essential if experience can demonstrate the skills needed.
